Eco-schools award
It was a genuine pleasure to meet members of Class 7 whose hard work has been instrumental in the school obtaining the award.
While Ringwood Waldorf School’s entire ethos is underpinned by a genuinely sustainable philosophy, it is not easy marrying any school’s activities with the requirements of Eco-Schools, but thanks to the dedication and tenacity of Class 7 and Pankaj Sulodia, this hurdle has been surmounted. The school has an active Eco Committee, an Eco noticeboard that is used as an aid to communication, holds regular meetings and takes minutes of meetings. There has been some genuinely inspiring work on many aspects of Global Citizenship, School Grounds and Waste. The school’s recent contribution to anti-single use plastic campaigns, including huge support for my own Ban the Straw campaign, has been particularly impressive.
Green Flag Next…
Class 7 has been acting as the school’s Eco Committee, but to reach the next level, Green Flag, they need and welcome the involvement of those in other year groups. The next level is a Green Flag, something that Ringwood Waldorf School should soon be flying. It will be a wonderful reward for the excellent work that the school already undertakes.
Many congratulations to all at Ringwood Waldorf!
