Business is Booming in Class 6
On Wednesday 9th May at 3.30pm, students and parents at Ringwood Waldorf School were invited to sample the sweetness of summer at the Class 6 Business Maths Event, where groups of children showcased their business ideas for products and services.
These included:
- the Sumptuous Smoothie stall,
- the Cracking Cakes stall,
- the Incredible Ice-cream stall,
- the Joyous Juice-lollies stall,
- and the Veritable Vegan stall.
All the products were fresh and home-made.
Also on offer were children’s games including:
- The Mystery Table-Top Treasure Hunt
- The Teddy Games and
- The exclusive Monkey Man comic and swapping cards debut.
Parents also enjoyed the Superclean Speedy Carwash Service ‘service with a smile!’ while they enjoyed a treat or two.
Business Experience
This was a practical business experience as part of our Class 6 Business Maths Main Lesson where students have been learning about revenue, costs, profit, loss, business strategy, advertising and marketing. They devised and named their wares and produced a business plan to present to their parents for the start-up money, which then had to be repaid out of profits.
The cars were queueing and all stalls sold out. It was a terrific success. Their dedicated work earned the children a total of £402.43 in revenue, representing a profit of £307.56 after costs! The class has decided to make the profits available to families who need a little financial assistance with school trips costs. We are tremendously proud of their efforts. They are now planning further ventures so watch this space, folks!
