Ringwood Waldorf School clothes swap to benefit Emmaus homeless charity
Fabulous fashionistas have begun sifting through their wardrobes ahead of Ringwood Waldorf School’s sixteenth fundraising clothes swap party.
Parents held their first clothes swap in 2010 with the aim of recirculating outgrown and unwanted items while supporting the Steiner school’s development fund.
Since then they have raised more than £10,000 for national and international charity appeals as well as the school. This year, the team hope to raise around £850 for Emmaus, a charity that helps homeless.
Parent Anna Shiels said: “The clothes swap is a great way to enjoy some eco-shopping in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Everything that is donated is carefully sorted in advance from tiny baby clothes to gorgeous dresses. Our school hall will be set up with changing rooms and mirrors and our parent-run pop-up café will keep everyone topped up with coffee and cake. We’re hoping for hundreds of fab items to spruce up those autumn wardrobes, and of course plenty of ‘shwappers’ to enjoy the event!”
The swap takes place on Saturday 24th November. Doors open at 2pm.
The address is Ringwood Waldorf School, Folly Farm Lane, Ashley, Ringwood, BH24 2NN.
Visitors can choose as many items of clothing as they like but are requested to make a generous donation on the way out.
Money raised from the swap will go to Emmaus, with proceeds from the pop-up café going to Ringwood Waldorf School.
