Ringwood Carnival 2012
Warm sunshine, live South American music, many happy smiley faces and a carnival truck packed with enthusiastic drummers adorned with coloured ribbons and feathers. In Ringwood? Yes, indeed!
Children, parents and friends all had a wonderful afternoon at the Ringwood Carnival. The excitement started building up the day before when young and old met after school to decorate our float. Our youngest helpers were sitting in pushchairs, Upper School students provided the artwork, and Class 4 and 5 students delivered beautiful crêpe flowers which they had made with their handwork teacher throughout the week; and in true Blue Peter style, we created a vision of Carnival in Rio.
On the day itself we were blessed with weather to rival Rio. After many years, this was the first carnival procession the Ringwood Waldorf School took part in and we won the “Highly Commended” badge from the carnival judges. The whole experience was so enriching – to feel part of the wider Ringwood community and to showcase the school whilst just having fun was a great experience to share.
And now we are ready for more. With last year’s experience to guide us, we will enter the carnival again. We will create a Dragon with special effects, we will have live music and we are calling all princesses, knights and dragon slayers to join us. And this time, we will enter the afternoon and evening processions!
