May Festival and Open Morning 2015

This is really a big thank you!

The school looked beautiful – clean, colourful and well-cared for – many, many thanks to the excellent team who came in on the recent workday and devoted hours of their time to achieving just that. It was well worth every minute you spent – dear parents, children and teachers who love our school and are willing to let us all know how much you love our school!

We were invited into Keir Hall for a delightful assembly in which we were charmed by the musical accomplishments and reciting skills of Classes 5 & 6, 1 & 3, followed by a short but elucidating summary of Waldorf Education by Marcus. Well done all of you, and many thanks to you too!

Now the cakes baked by our fabulous bakers were, once again, just too good, (especially that moisty banana loaf filled with moisty raisins!) – but I understand they were all as good. (Thank you Mel Sinclair and the parents in Class 4!)

Maypole dancing in the courtyard had us all – well – charmed again! Thank you Class 4 – you lovely dancing children! And Jessie too. That took some hard work and co-operation. And when the tinies had a go, clinging on to the ribbons with one plump hand and their mums with the other, eyes sparkling as they tried to stay upright and the ribbons tangled quietly above – it was indeed a melting moment.

All the classrooms had exhibitions of children’s work and it was wonderful to be able to look through all the many books displayed and take stock of the vast number of subjects covered as the children go up through the classes – work from Class 1 to Class 11. Well done children and teachers – thank you all so much for sharing.

As time was running out I almost missed seeing the Kindergartens but I learnt that they were full of appreciative visitors trying out all sorts of different creative activities all morning. A special treat for me is always to meet old scholars returning to show their partners their ‘old’ school and viewing it now as potential parents. Excellent!…and thank you all!
