It’s Michaelmas Time…

As Autumn draws in, we are entering Michaelmas time, a festival celebrated at school around 29th September each year. Michaelmas is named after the Archangel Michael, who inspires us to develop our strength and bravery and overcome our fears and anxieties. This is also a time when the light and the dark signals a turning point in the seasons.

In school, the younger classes hear stories about the brave knight St George who, with the help of Michael tames the dragon. The older classes play Dragon Games in the forest.

For us, it is a time to bring light and strength into our lives and our community as we enter into the darker months.

This year, with the current restrictions, the children will have the opportunity to celebrate Michaelmas in smaller ‘bubble’ groups.
