International Summer Language School
15th July – 4th August 2013
This will be our third year. In the first 2 years we have raised £30,000 for the school Development Fund – making it the single biggest fundraising activity of the year. This year numbers have grown as word and reputation have spread, and we are anticipating up to 50 foreign students.
Running parallel to the English Language classes for the first 2 weeks is a Performing Arts programme for local children aged 12-16 aimed at enhancing a wide range of drama skills and leading up to a final show for friends and families.
Much of the money raised has been as a direct result of the volunteer offers of accommodation, skills and general help from the school Community.
We still need offers of help. Whatever you can contribute is most appreciated.
The summer school benefits RWS in a number of different ways:
- It raises money for the School Development Fund
- It raises the international profile of RWS and helps to attract fee-paying international exchange students
- It creates a warm, safe environment where our own children can socialise and build friendships with foreign children, many of whom are Waldorf students
- It creates a sustained common purpose and contact for the Community members involved
Our vision is to see the summer school evolving to become an increasingly integral part of the RWS calendar year and a vehicle for increasing Community awareness and commitment to the vital fundraising aspect of the school.
