‘Exquisite’ Christmas Bazaar delights Ringwood Waldorf School visitors

Ringwood Waldorf School played a starring role in the town’s festive countdown with a Christmas Bazaar described as ‘exquisite’ by the visiting Mayor.

Councillor Michael Thierry and Lady Mayoress Gillian Thierry were the guests of honour as the school’s annual fundraiser welcomed people across the community for a day of shopping and Yuletide cheer.

Visitors browsed dozens of stalls selling handmade Christmas gift ideas while children enjoyed candle-dipping, a magical winter garden and the chance to buy and wrap presents for families and friends in a ‘secret’ grotto.

Little ones also watched an enchanting puppet play and created pomanders and potions in a crafts session.

Against a backdrop of live festive music, parents laid on a restaurant, barbecue and café while warming waffles and punch were available by the school’s courtyard Christmas tree.

As in previous years, the school organised a well-used park-and-ride scheme from Headlands Business Park to help manage traffic.

On his tour of the Bazaar, Mayor Thierry visited kindergarten activities, spoke to traders in the main hall and sang carols with a parents’ choir.

In his closing address, he congratulated all involved in the staging the day, adding: “This is an exquisite event. Without the efforts of many people it would not have been put on.”

Mayor Thierry also praised the wider work of staff at the school. He said: “Children and families are blessed to be in this place and teachers and support staff have such a vital role.”

Elaine Holt, the school’s Chair of College, said: “Our Christmas Bazaar was another great opportunity to embrace the community we serve. We thank the Mayor and Mayoress, and indeed all our visitors, for taking the time to come along. We all thoroughly enjoyed the day.”

The school, in Folly Farm Lane, Ashley, is a registered charity. Money raised from the annual Bazaar goes towards the school’s development fund.
