End of Term Festival

Last term was brought to an end with an uplifting festival of music and movement displaying the many instruments and pure singing voices of our children, Classes 1 to 12. An appreciation of this wonderful event just missed the last newsletter, so what better way to start the new term than with a reminder of the joyful gifts the classes shared with us all.
Bearing aloft their Easter Crosses, the younger children entered the hall, as the Upper School Choir brought us into a quiet Easter mood with a lovely rendering of Signore della Cime. Other heavenly music which followed included Class 5’s Kosimama, Class 4 & 5’s Rhythm of Life, and the Upper School Choir’s Hallelujah. Ensemble work came from Class 6 with Angelus Bells, from Class 8 with Celtic Dream and from the Upper School with Elves and a Thousand Years (see picture below) – all played from the heart. At the centre of the festival was a performance of Schubert’s Impromptu in A-flat Major in Eurythmy by Classes 11 and 12. With flowing movements and an extraordinary sense of awareness of one another, the students moved, following forms they had choreographed with Martina for this piece. (see picture below.) This was a huge achievement. Class 3 showed us their charming French Play and Class 1 sang ‘Ich bin die Mutter Sonne’ with perfect German accents.
Every gap in the programme was filled with enthusiastic repetitions of the many verses of Lord of the Dance. But nothing quite prepared us for Class 2’s hearty rendering of The Irish Rover! This certainly set the mood for Class 6,7 & 8’s Don’t Stop Me Now! …in which we were all invited to join. Then it was time to go home.
A very special thanks to everyone who contributed but most especially to Sandi and Lucy – our music stars!
