Community Choir
Our Community choir is now two and a half years old. Like all Community choirs, it is open to anyone who would like to come and sing. You do not have to be able to read music or do an audition or have any experience of singing in a choir. Our main aim is to enjoy singing together.
We sing a wide range of songs and love to have a good balance of humour and reverence. When we first started, we simply enjoyed meeting once a week and singing….. then the school Variety Show was nearing and we decided to be brave and share two of our songs. Since then, we have performed at a further two Variety Shows, and whilst the nerves and trepidation and fear of not being ready are of course present leading up to the event, it has been tremendous fun and a wonderful sense of achievement.
We have also had outings to Christchurch Priory, which is a wonderful place to sing. The combination of light shining in through the windows and the varying acoustics in different parts of the church make it a very special experience.
We always welcome new members if anyone should wish to come and try it out. In the past we had a number of very young (Kindergarten and younger) members who play alongside and sometimes joined in – especially with the lively songs! I feel very blessed to be able to share some time singing with other people in our community and most especially to laugh together. There is never a week without laughter and the combination of this and beautiful harmonies provides nourishment for our souls in the middle of each week.
