Christmas Pageant – Archive Snapshots

The three little plays at the centre of our Christmas Pageant were written in 1979 by the class teachers Dennis Demanett (who wrote the Creation play for his Class 3), Christine (who wrote the Shepherds’ Play for her Class 4), and Jaya Graves (who wrote the Kings’ Play for her Class 5). In these images here we see the dreamy, trusting shepherd moved by the appearance of an angel with an earnest message which speaks directly to their hearts; one of the shepherd’s wives scolding their husbands for dreaming when they should have been wide awake and guarding the sheep, and lastly the gathering of ‘the representatives of mankind’ around the holy child in the crib including now the Kings who are offering their gifts.

(Some among you might recognise Xenia (shepherd), Katherine Polyblank (angry wife) – also Christine’s two children, the two Hoffmann and the two von Stein children.)
