An Introduction to Feminist Thought

Are you interested in learning more about our Upper School curriculum? Join us for a mini-series, inspired by the Class 12 History Main Lesson; it concerns itself with instruments of oppression based on “race”, gender, and class.

History of Feminism – Trace the evolution of feminist movements, understanding the different waves and branches that have shaped its ongoing relevance.

Origins and Institutionalisation of Patriarchy – Explore the historical and cultural roots of patriarchal systems to comprehend their enduring impact on society.

An Example: The Work of Gerda Lerner – Delve into the scholarship of Gerda Lerner, a Jewish-Austrian-American historian, whose work, The Creation of Patriarchy, is foundational in women’s history.

TUESDAYS 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM, 28 JANUARY – 11 FEBRUARY 2025

Where: The Art Room, Ringwood Waldorf School, Ringwood, BH24 2NN

The presentations include key themes, figures, and interconnected concepts. Each session will consist of a 45- to 50-minute talk, followed by time allocated for discussion, allowing participants to share thoughts and experiences.

Donations collected at the door will support the school’s development fund, contributing to constructing an extension building. This new facility will house Upper School classrooms, the Parent and Child Group, craft workshops, and the school’s music room.
