IRANIAN NEW YEAR CELEBRATIONS

Nowruz Mabarek! Happy New Year in Iran (Persia). Nowruz marks the spring equinox, when night and day are of equal length and the arrival of spring as a victory over darkness.
Class 6 recognised the Iranian New Year by setting a Haft-sin table. The traditional Haft-sin translates to “seven S’s”. It is an arrangement of seven items that all begin with the letter S in Farsi (the Persian language). There are also other items placed on the Haft-sin, each item carries a symbolic meaning for the new year.
