Qualifications

In our Upper School, students work towards Level 2 and 3 Integrative Education qualifications, accredited by the Crossfields Institute and regulated by Ofqual. Equivalent to GCSEs and A Levels, these qualifications offer academic depth as well as UCAS points for university entry. In addition, students study GCSEs in English and Mathematics, providing a strong foundation and internationally recognised qualifications.

Integrative Education Programme

Upper School students at Ringwood Waldorf School study towards Crossfields Institute (CFI) Level 2 and 3 Integrative Education Qualifications — a creative, project-based alternative to GCSEs and A Levels for students aged 14 to 18.

These Ofqual-regulated qualifications promote holistic, interdisciplinary learning and encourage independent thinking, personal initiative, and ownership of learning. Instead of exams, students build portfolios that demonstrate creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking.

The Level 3 qualification carries UCAS points for direct university entry, and both Level 2 and Level 3 are nationally recognised and aligned with the European Qualification Framework (EQF) at Levels 3 and 4 respectively.

The CFI Level 2 (EQF 3) Integrative Education set of qualifications has the following objectives:

  • Preparing learners to progress to a qualification at a higher level
  • Preparing learners to progress to a qualification in another subject area
  • Preparing learners for employment
  • Giving learners personal growth and engagement in learning

Exam Access Arrangements (EAA) are specific amendments to the exam conditions for a particular pupil such as extra time or supervised rest breaks. The criteria for EAA are strict, thresholds are high and administration processes rigorous. It is granted for pupils where there is, and has been, evidence throughout their school career that their normal way of working requires specific adaptations in exams and that, by not having EAA, they would be at a disadvantage.

The EAA qualification process begins in the autumn term and starts with discussions with Louis Tiley, SENCo, identifying who may be eligible. Exam Access Arrangements then need to be checked and verified by a qualified Independent Assessor who will do a number of diagnostic assessments with the pupil to confirm eligibility.  This assessment is paid for by the school.  JCQ, who check and monitor the exam process, will also check that the school has followed due diligence and that EAA has only be granted for those pupils who are eligible.

The school will notify you in the Autumn term if it is felt that your child may be eligible for Exam Access Arrangements. For further information please see Exam Access Arrangements.
