Our Waldorf
Curriculum

At Ringwood Waldorf School, we nurture the heart, mind, and spirit of each child, guiding them on a journey of growth and discovery.

From the wonder-filled days of Kindergarten to the more intellectual challenges of Upper School, our curriculum fosters creativity, curiosity, and a deep connection to learning.

We prioritise a balanced approach, integrating academics with art, nature, and hands-on experiences to support each child’s unique development. By the time students graduate, they are well-rounded, confident individuals ready to embrace the world with resilience and purpose.

An educational framework for an ever changing world.

Immersive

At the heart of our curriculum, academics are seamlessly integrated with hands-on experiences in art, music, movement, craft and sports. Children explore each subject from various perspectives across different lessons, allowing them to engage with the material in ways that resonate with their individual learning styles.

Hands-on

At the heart of our understanding of how children learn is a belief that children learn best by actively participating and engaging in the world around them. A lot of our lessons take place outside the classroom where learning can be through experience.

Contextual and adaptable

At the heart of our teaching philosophy is the belief that teachers should have the freedom to adapt their lessons within the required curriculum to address the unique strengths and challenges of their classes. This responsiveness enables educators to select appropriate learning materials, activities, and instructional methods that cater to the diverse needs and cultural backgrounds of their students.

Child-centered

At the heart of all we do are the developmental needs of the children we teach. The Waldorf teacher training gives teachers a profound understanding of how children learn best based on where they are developmentally. By fostering a classroom teaching style grounded in child development, teachers can adapt to the diverse needs of their students and engage with each child individually to ignite their personal love for learning.

Guiding Principles for educating the next generation

Fostering a love of learning

Nurturing a lifelong love of learning is at the heart of everything we do.

We achieve this by aligning our curriculum to the developmental stage of the children, mindfully inspiring their natural curiosity through experience-driven learning that stokes the child’s thirst for knowledge.

Activating potential

Our children will inherit a rapidly changing and surprising world.

We believe the best preparation we can give them is to provide a multi-dimensional, experiential education that develops the full range of their potential, namely emotional intelligence, physical vitality and spiritual depth.

Nurturing community

For us, community exists globally, locally and in the classroom.

By celebrating the beauty of togetherness, we open our arms to our children, their parents and the people and places that surround us, strengthening bonds and instilling a wholesome sense of belonging.

By balancing the child’s emerging sense of self with a healthy connection to people and place, they can step into the world as confident and sociable adults, ready and able to contribute positively and compassionately with respect for all.
